MITHILA PAINTING THE BIHAR'S PRIDE.
Mithila painting is one of the famous art forms of India. This art form is known for their particular occasion and it represents the ritual content of deities. It was traditionally created by the women of Mithila region of Bihar. This painting has lots of myths and the story of gods and apsaras existence. This art was traditionally done to give aesthetic looks to their home, but with the time this art improved a lot and nowadays this is also done on paper, clothes, and canvas. In modern-day Mithila painting is done with using fingers, brushes, twigs, matchsticks and nib pen and the color used in this art that comes from natural sources. Ochre and reddish-brown color are used in this art and this color is prepared by the artist themselves. Mithila painting is made from the powdered rice. This art depicts the nature, people and their community. This art form is very different from another art form, In this art, the artist left no any space and fill all the gaps with flora and fauna. The border is the main part of this painting.
In ancient time this painting was done even on trees for protecting trees from being cut. The trees were being adorned with religious symbols like a god.This was the main reason for not being cut any trees.
Mithila painting has five different styles:-
KOHBAR, GODNA, BHARNI, KATCHNI, AND TANTRIK.
(Bharni, katchni and Tantrik) style depicts god. This style was mainly done by the upper caste women of Mithila region, their concept was to create religious and spiritual art.
KOHBAR GHAR
Kohbar is a very popular style of Madhubani painting. This style depicts the symbolic images of lotus plant and a bamboo tree. This style shows the wedding culture and sun, moon god shower their blessing to the newly married couple. Kobhar ghar is the symbol of love and prosperity.
GODNA STYLE
Godna is simple but intricate design of Mithila painting. and it was done on arms and legs. mostly lampblack color used in this style. Godna is the perfect
example of modern art and it's a very eye-catching style. Another name of godna is the tattoo.
